As the final hour rolls forward for what has been an exciting week, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on what I have learnt about Mewburn Ellis, the people, the culture and the profession.
Learnings from the Experience
Firstly, I must emphasise what I have learnt about the culture of Mewburn Ellis: Helpful, Joyful and Relatable.

Helpful
From day one to day five I found myself regularly interacting with various colleagues at Mewburn Ellis, from Trainees to Partners. The various conversations I have had, has allowed me to build a better understanding of what Mewburn Ellis is all about and how the people at the firm work together to create value.

Joyful
What truly set the tone for the week was the uplifting and enthusiastic atmosphere across the firm. Every tutorial and conversation was infused with energy, and genuine enjoyment of the work. Whether we were tackling complex legal scenarios or talking about how a scooter functions, there was always a sense of positivity.

Relatable
Despite their technical expertise and professional accolades, the people at Mewburn Ellis were refreshingly approachable and down-to-earth. I could engage in open, honest conversations, ask questions freely, and find common ground even with senior partners. The relatability of everyone I met, taught me how there is no sense of hierarchy in the firm.
Key Advice Taken
The main advice I have taken from this experience for people who may be interested in this profession is to choose the firm that best aligns with you. The journey to become a qualified patent attorney is a rigorous process that involves multiple examinations to overcome. Therefore, naturally it is important to choose the firm that offers a training programme that suits you best and an environment that offers you a foundation to excel.
Another piece of advice I would give, is to make the most of every interaction. Some of the most valuable insights I have gained this week, were from the spontaneous conversations I have had. Almost everyone in the profession wants to answer your questions, especially people at Mewburn Ellis, so make the most of your interactions. Every moment is an opportunity to learn.
